Diamond Jubilee project

I spent this morning helping to put the finishing touches to and stick everything down on the latest project at the local care home.  I had made the letters, got the die-cut crowns from eBay and decorated a couple of the letters myself as they hadn't been done by the residents.  Otherwise, it's all their own work - it looks good on the front of the reception desk and attracts the attention of everyone coming in.

Long time, no blog.

Today I was crafting with some of the residents of a local care home.  It was certainly a new experience and a great deal of fun.  I had asked them to make an 8"x8" tile depicting spring.  They had lots of fun with some diecuts, self-adhesive glitter foam and some enlarged spring-themed digistamps to colour in.  I noticed that one lady was using all the proper shading techniques using only the cheapest sort of felt pens, and the result was absolutely lovely.  She had done her RSA certificate and bad arthritis in her hands now prevented her from continuing her art, examples of which were hanging in her room.   I would like to see what she could do with Promarkers.

It's been over a month since the last blog (work and no April birthdays). There have only been a couple of cardmaking opportunities and here are the results of one: the crafty afternoon at my friend Geraldine's.  After a quick stop-off at Craft Genie to stock up on essentials (churlish not to), we set to practise using her Cuttlebug to create our version of a wonderful Sue Wilson all-white design (blog name "In love with all white").  I had taken along my Moroccan Spellbinders, Whitewash Co'redinations and sander kit.

Thanks to my brilliant (!) photography they look rather different, but that's due to the flash being too close on the lower one.  You can see the detail of the diecuts better if you click on the photo. I would appreciate your comments!

Must start thinking of May birthdays!

Mother's Day

Here is the card we are about to present to my dear mother-in-law. The intention is that she can keep the card on display after today and it features her favourite colours, rather than strictly spring-type shades.

The La Pashe flowers (Build-a-Blossoms) are good for adding dimension but the white undersides always annoy me, so I coloured them all in matching shades with Aquamarkers, which don't seep through.  Unfortunately, the photo does not show the embossing very well - I cut up a 12" x 12" mask to fit the size of the scallopped oval.

I now have to spend a few days organising my stash - should be a challenge!

More March Creations

Two cards for 2012 birthdays using the Kanban Carnaby Street designs:

A commission for a 21-year old drums fan:

This next card was commissioned by the mother of a friend of mine, and my friend has asked me to include it on my blog - so here it is, Geraldine!    It features one of my all-time favourites, the foiled paw acetate from Hunkydory.

I'm hoping to do a bit more stamping for the next batch - it's time the Clarity London set got an airing!

2012 Birthday Cards (2)

My first atttempt at a rosette - well, strictly speaking it was the third!  This was a tricky one as it was for a male friend and I was determined to use the Kanban flag card.  I appreciate all comments, particularly any suggestions for improvements.

I'm now looking forward to designs for my girlfriends when I can get out the glitter, Martha Stewart punches and intricate Spellbinders!

2012 Birthday Cards (1)

The first 2012 birthday cards.  Shame about the background mess in the bottom picture!  Colouring the bus stamp was a labour of love, but it proved that a practice run is always a good idea.

2012 theme

This year most of the cards I'll be sending to friends and family will have a UK and/or London theme.  Here is the first one made, although it's a little unusual to have a UK theme with Valentine's Day!  The main inspiration was Ali Reeve's design using the Union Flag mask, and I was delighted that she gave it the thumbs up on my Facebook post.

Blog one, day one.

I thought I'd never do this, but here we are!  It's going to take some time understanding how a blog works, but there's no hurry.... is there?
